Soo sorry for the lack of posts lately but I have been swamped with work and personal events that give me no time left to blog but I do promise to work on that. I love to blog and network. Ok no more rambling and onto my post...

I just got invited by Lane Bryant to the Blogger's Conference in FFFW New York next month !!! Whoooo hoooo !! I am sooo excited as I'm sure you can tell. Hehe This is my first foot in the door towards making a mark in Full Figure Fashion which has been a life long dream of mine and made it a promise to my Mami.

I promise to take lots of pics and notes to be able to update my blog. I planned on attending FFFW anyways but now with this invitation, I will have lots of inside juice.

Beauty Tip: How to Minimize Your Pores

While it's impossible to shrink the actual size of your pores, there are ways to minimize their appearance.

Start by reducing the amount of oil on your skin, which can clog up your pores and make them look bigger. Wash your face twice a day with an exfoliating cleanser that contains ingredients like salicylic acid to slough away the gunk in your pores. Follow that up with an oil-free, noncomedogenic moisturizer (use one with at least an SPF 15 during the day since sun damage can stretch out your pores). Also try to once a week, use an at-home microdermabrasion to remove dead skin cells so your skin looks smoother and your pores are less noticeable.

Beauty Tip: Easy Lipstick Application

Combat unsightly flakes by preparing your lips before applying lipstick.

Wear lip balm every day and use a lip treatment once a week that contains salicylic acid to slough off dead skin cells.

If your lips are still dry try this trick: Mix a pinch of brown sugar with a dab of lip balm and gently massage over lips to buff away any flakes. Follow with lip balm.

Lip balm should be applied at least 15 minutes before lipstick to allow balm to sink in.

Blot lips with tissue to remove any excess balm before applying lipstick.

Beauty Tip: How To Do A Dark Lip

From deep plum to rich red, dark lip looks are super-hot this season and is surprisingly easy to pull off. Everyone can wear dark lipstick as long as they apply it right.

The shade of lipstick that you choose can make or break your look. If you have a cool complexion, choose dark colors with blue and purple undertones, like berry or bordeaux. For a warm skin tone, look for coral and gold undertones, like brick and golden red.

Not sure if you are a warm or a cool? Take a look at the veins of your inner wrist. If they look green you have a warm skin tone; blue veins mean you’re a cool.

For a soft lip, choose a lip color that is close to your natural lip color. Line and fill in your entire lip with the pencil. Use your ring finger and press the lip color into your lip, creating a smudgy stain. Soften it further by adding gloss.

For an intense lip, choose a liner that matches the lipstick you are using. Outline your lips, then fill them in with the pencil. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick, then blot with a tissue and repeat the application of the lipstick.

Beauty Tip: Best Home Manicure

Want to save some cash and paint your nails yourself? Here are all the pro tips you need to nail an at-home manicure:

Step 1] Prep your nails by rubbing them clean with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. This gets rid of any oils so your polish will stick to your nailbed and last as long as possible.

Step 2] Apply a clear base coat and let it dry for at least a minute so it’s not tacky before applying your nail polish.

Step 3] Slick on two thin coats of a colored nail polish. Each coat should be thin so it dries quickly. Wipe one side of the brush against the top of the bottle to remove the excess lacquer, then paint your nail in three even strokes—first down the center, then down each side. Wait a minute between coats. Extend your second coat slightly over and under the tips of your nails to prevent chips.

Step 4:Finish off with a high-shine topcoat. Wait a full 30 minutes for the polish to dry.

Beauty Tip: Secrets for Flawless Skin – Even in Winter Months

We all know that one baby-faced person with perfect skin. No blemishes, no dry spots - just a smooth, clear, radiant complexion. But how do they achieve and maintain such a perfect complexion year-round? Well here are some secrets.

1]Science and Medicine- The main thing women use to achieve the baby-face complexion are pills. There are several different kinds of pills that can control acne; birth control, hormones, antibiotics or pills specifically made for controlling acne. If you want to go this route, talk with your doctor and find out which would best be suited for you. If you are nature-oriented and do not want to mess around with pills, keep on reading. There are more beauty care secrets!

2]Use Cool Water- Many of us have long been taught that drying out your skin is the best way to control acne. We have news! It's not. Drying out your skin will cause it to produce more oil to gain back its 'protective layer'. Washing your face with a mild gel, such as Cetaphil or Spectrojel, and rinsing with cool-lukewarm water will keep your skin clean and clear without drying it out.

3]Keep Hydrated– Inside and Out. Aside from drinking plenty of water each day, fill your sink with lukewarm or cool water and add a few drops of oil. Coconut oil and Almond Oil are great choices. Hold your breath and soak your face for as long as you can. Come up for air and keep soaking for about 3-5 minutes. Your skin loves to soak up water, and you probably know that after having a long bath your skin feels the most soft and smooth. Finish your soak by immediately applying a light, unscented facial moisturizer and either let your skin air-dry or gently pat dry with a towel.

4]Blot Excess Oil- If your skin is constantly oily and shiny, blot with oil absorbing sheets. There are many different brands and they all have one main goal; to remove excess oil without the need for adding more pore-clogging powder to your face. Keeping as less stuff off your face as possible will keep it looking fresh and healthy.

5]Keep it Clean- The number one rule of maintaining healthy looking and flawless skin is to keep your hands off it. Your hands and fingertips are crawling with bacteria. You don't want this on your face and seeping into your pores. This is the number one way breakouts occur! Try to keep as much away from your face as possible and always remember to wash off your makeup at the end of each day.

Following these simple beauty care tips will give you smooth, clear and hydrated skin making it easy to apply makeup or feel confident without wearing any cover-up at all.

Happy Gobble Day! [Super Late]

I know I'm late but I hope you all had a awesome Thanksgiving with your special ones. I spent my night with my closest family and friends in my home this year and had an delicious meal. This year was very different then the rest because it was my first holiday with my Mami by my side. I wasn't sure how that day would go for me but when it finally came I think I handled it the best way that I could. I kept everything the way she would've done it, making sure that the Christmas tree up. [Which I was super late btw, her tradition was to have that tree up by Halloween, I KNOW! Hehe] I really didn't think I would be done in one day but with my cousins help, it got done. Thanks Girls!

So this is my family's Christmas tree for 2010. The quality of the pictures aren't the best, they were taken with my cell but you get the idea of it.

The Sexy Ruby Woo

As stated in my previous post for the fabulous Ms. Violetta, lately I've been into bold lips because it's quick and easy as I'm always rushing out the door. Today's combo is for the sexy MAC Ruby Woo. It has a matte finish with a blue undertone to it. It's super easy to apply but to prevent bleeding I first lined my lips with a skin toned lip liner and filled it in as well. I was put off at first because it's such a bold lip, don't get me wrong I love bold lips but I was used to bright colors. I was the instructor to a makeup class for my coworkers and decided to whip out Ruby to show the girls that when it comes to makeup, you should always go out the box. I'm super glad I did because I ended up loving this color and got soo many compliments!

I paired the sexy Ruby Woo with several coats of my favorite mascara and did a classic wing line to my eyes with my favorite black eyeliner. And that's all folks!

Hola everyone! Sooo sorry for going on a long hiatus but I have been super crazy busy lately with tons of new projects in my life! I am in the process of building my freelancing makeup kit and it has been a time consuming process! I honestly did not think it was going to be this hard but I really can't complain because it is something that I want to do and love. I'm working on develop my own line of lip products starting with lip glosses and lipsticks to then work my way up. Those are just a couple of the many things going on but with all of that said, I am back and ready to blog!

Hair Tip: How to Create the Perfect Party Ponytail

A ponytail is everyone's favorite go-to hairstyle because it's the easiest way to deal with your hair when you don't have the time or energy to style it. Recently the ponytail has gotten an upgrade thanks to some trendy celebrities who have been sporting glamorous versions on the red carpet.

So how could you create the perfect party ponytail?

1]. Apply a smoothing cream to damp hair, then blow dry using a round brush to create body.

2]. Use a fine-tooth comb to tease the hair at the crown of your head, then gather your hair into a high ponytail using your fingers and secure with an elastic.

3]. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail, wrap it around the elastic and hide the end with a pin. Sweep your bangs or face framing pieces off to one side.

Beauty Tip: Best Blush Technique For Your Face Shape

The way you apply your blush can dramatically alter the overall appearance of your face. A few strategic strokes can make full cheeks look thinner, hallow cheeks look healthier, or soften some sharp angles. Wondering what the most flattering blush technique is for you?

Below you'll find different face shapes, choose yours and then get the dish on how to makeover your own blush routine.

Face shape: Heart
Most flattering blush technique: Blend the blush over the lower part of the apple of your cheeks. This will help soften a pointy chin and fill out a narrow jaw area.

Face shape: Round
Most flattering blush technique: Sweep your blush under your cheekbones and up towards your temples. This will maximize your cheekbones and minimize the fullness of your face.

Face shape: Square

Beauty Tip: How To Make Lip Gloss Last Longer

Lip gloss has a tendency to pull a disappearing act before you've finished your first cocktail. The trick to making your gloss stick around a lot longer is to layer up your lips.

And the trick is.....

1]. Start by filling in your entire mouth with a lip liner that matches the natural shade of your lips. This creates a base for your lip color to grab onto.

2]. Next, apply a creamy neutral lipstick in a similar shade to the liner. Blot away the excess to tone down the color intensity, then brush on a healthy dose of your gloss.

In general, thick, shimmer-flecked formulas tend to last longer than sheer ones. And if you have a habit of licking your lips when you're wearing gloss, opt for an unscented, unflavored lip gloss to help nix the temptation of eating away at the goods.

Beauty Tip: How To Choose The Right Foundation Shade

Foundation is one of the most useful beauty tools in a girl's arsenal: it can wake up your complexion, hide problem areas and even out your skin tone with just one well-applied layer. But it's key you use the right shade or else your cover will be blown. Unfortunately, shopping for the right shade can be a minefield for mistakes.

The first thing you should do is try the shade on your face. There's some confusion out there on where you should test out the shade. We've heard everything from applying it on your hand to swiping it on your inner arm. The only real way to see if a foundation matches your skin is to put it on your face. For many people, their face is a different color than the rest of their body, so trying it on your arm isn't a true representation of that shade. Apply a dab of the foundation along your jawline, then step back and look at yourself in the mirror. Can you see the line of the foundation? If so, it's not the right color. If it blends right in then you've got a match.

See how it looks in the sunlight. Fluorescent lighting, aside from being totally unflattering, can also distort the way a shade looks. Also, walking outside after you've put the foundation on and looking in a mirror to see how the color looks in natural sunlight.

Wear a simple white top when shopping. Bright colors aren't ideal for foundation shopping since the color can reflect on your face and cause your skin tone to look different. Opt for a simple white blouse and you'll be sure to get a true representation of your natural skin color. Also, wear something with an open neck: you want to be able to see how the foundation blends from your face to your shoulders.

Nail Polish of the Week

This is another color that I am in love with! It's called Scorcher and it's from MAC To the Beach collection that came out this past Spring. At first I wasn't sure of the color because it looks soo bright but once I tried it once, I was hooked! It is described as a bright and intense red-coral that has a cream finish. It's super easy to apply and with two coats, your good to go!

Day 09. Something you’re proud of in the past few days.

I had the awesome opportunity to be the assistant make up artist to one of my very good and close friend Nydia [who is also a MAC artist] in a music video shoot earlier this week. It was my first "job" in a real world setting, and I loved it! Being apart of that experience made me realize that doing that is what I want to do. It was a long and fast paced day but it was all worth in the end. It was very exciting to have hands on experience in the real world with strangers appreciating your hard work and loving it, as well.

Day 08. Short term goals for this month and why?

For this current month of October, my goals are to get my credentials ready and send in my applications to get the M·A·C PRO and The Make Up For Ever Backstage card. I am in the process of getting my professional make up kit together to officially start freelancing. I have been a make up lover ever since I could remember and it is now that I'm finally getting my kit together as well as all the other goodies that goes with the whole package. I am very excited to start this new journey, for this has been something that has been on my mind for a really long time but other things always got in the way. I have met soo many wonderful and talented make up artists that have guided me and taught me soo many new tips and tricks that have helped me grow as a make up artist. Stay tuned!!

So lately I've been into bold lips because it's quick and easy as I'm always rushing out the door! Lol This combo is one of the many lip combo's that I will posting but this is one of my favorites so far. It's featuring one of my favorite lipsticks by MAC, it's called Violetta and it is a PRO color so it could only be found in the PRO stores unless you got your hands on it from last weeks Disney Villain's collection. Violetta is described as a red-based violet purple with a glossy sheen finish.

Personally, I love this shade! It's that pop of color to a plain black outfit or that complimentary lip color to that special outfit. Either way you rock it, I'm sure your going to love Ms. Violetta!

Love it or Hate it?

What do you think of Willow Smith's new single titled "Whip my Hair"? She is the daughter of one of my favorite celebrity couples, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Her single has just been released this current Fall and is taking over the radio stations and how could I forget to mention that she is also signed onto Jay-Z record label, "Roc Nation". She is only 9 years old!! Crazy, huh?!?

So do I love it or hate it??

I love this song! It's super cute and catchy. This song really does make me whip my hair, hehe!

Day 05. A picture of somewhere you’ve been to.

Like I had mentioned before, my laptop had died on me so I had lost all of my pics but I did goggle the location and found some good pictures that shows you what I most love about this place.

To those who know me know that I'm not a beach loving person. During the hot Jersey weather, I'm never the one to say "Let's go to the beach or even to the lakes or pools". It's just not me. Even though I was born here in the U.S, I lived in the Dominican Republic for a couple of years when I was younger and go back during every summer through out my younger school years. During my time there and while living with my family, on many occasions we would head out to one of the many local beaches which would be Playa Salina, in english that's Salina Beach. Now that's a beach I would go to! It brings me back memories of going there almost everyday with my family and all the fun we would have. I love the beautiful clear water and the white/light gray sand. I love how the beach is all the way in the end of the road an to get there you have to go through many roads full of rocks and along the roads are the most amazing beautiful beach houses. As you hang out in the water, the mountains tops just simply amazes you. Oh man, what I would give to get a chance to have a D.R getaway but between my crazy work and life schedule, I barely have me time. I am soo working on squeezing that in!

Aldo Cross-Body Bags

As the fall and winter is approaching Jersey, during this time I always tend to go for the cross-body bags. I find them to be the easiest to carry with thick gloves and coat on. It's not a pretty sight to carry a handbag while trying to walk thru the snow, loose balance, fall and your purse drops with all your items all over the place. So to the cross-body bags, I go to! When it comes to purses, wallets, hobo, bags, etc, one of the stores that I always check out first is Aldo. They always have gorgeous good quality purses that last for a really long time. My Love for Bachata

Though I was born here in the US, My parents were born in the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic. I have always embraced my Dominican culture and is mixed in with my daily life. My reason for this post is for my love of Bachata. Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the countryside and the rural neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. It is mixed with Cuban boleros combining traditional Latin/Caribbean rhythms and is a guitar based music. I remember growing up and having family events, all we did was dance dance and more dancing all night long. I'm posting a couple of videos from You Tube that shows you how to dance Bachata. Headband Loving

As I'm sure you guys saw the VMA's a couple of weekends ago like I did, I loved Eminem's performance. It was most definitely one of my favorite performances and once Rihanna came out it was a wrap for me! I fell in love with her head piece. I loved her overall outfit with the black combat boots mixed with the lace tank and tulle skirt.

So after that performance, I went on the hunt for that headband. It took me a while but I finally found it and got soo bummed afterward, it is completely out of my budget! It's flapper-inspired rhinestone headband made by Jennifer Behr. The headband retails for $1,200 and features three rows of Swarovski crystals.

I'm sure there's a dupe for it somewhere so I'm on the hunt for it now!

Obsession of the Moment [Nail Polish of the Week]

Hola Everyone! I know that I have been completely M.I.A from my blog and my lovely followers but I am 100% back this time around. The past almost 4 months was the most difficult time that I had ever gone though. Through the process I lost someone so close, someone that will be forever missed and could never be replaced. Even though she is no longer with me physically, I know that she will always be my side guiding me and protecting me. I promised her that I will make all my dreams come true and that is my mission and will not stop. So this is for you mami <33

Ok, so for some time now I been crushing on the natural nail look. The past couple of years I was a huge fan of the acrylic nails, the pink and white nails, the solar nails, etc [you name it, i have done it before hehe]. Now I'm in love with beautiful manicured nails, both square or round ends.

This past weekend was my cousin Nicole's 21st Birthday and we all got dolled up to head out to Arka Lounge in Uptown Manhattan NYC. I decided to sport from Essie's Spring 2010 Collection Tart Deco. Eyebrow Threading

To many it is a old habit but to some it is a new discovering. I have been threading my eyebrows for about 9 years now and I'm 100% in love with it, I don't think I could ever go back to waxing or plucking. Though the pain is a lot more intense than waxing but the final result is soo worth it. But what exactly is eyebrow threading? Eyebrow threading is a hair removal technique that uses 100% cotton thread. The cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin entwining the hairs in the thread, which are then lifted quickly from the follicle. It is more precise than waxing and allows for better lines. It was originated in parts of India, the Middle and Far East, and is now gaining popularity in Western countries. The technique is rather inexpensive because it does not require costly chemical ingredients; messy waxes and creams are avoided altogether. Depending where you go it could go from $7 to $20 [no tip included]. For those women who would like to pursue a more natural beauty regimen, hair threading is a good choice, since it does not use harmful products. I have added a video from You Tube that shows the threading being done. You could check out your local spa's to see if they offer this service. Try it out at least once before knowing if it's not for you. I'm glad I tried it out when I did =]

In my eyes she has been another full-figured women that has set her mark in Hollywood and craved her own way.

Living in the east coast, the weather here is definitely warming up and the summer is making it's way back! It is now time to re-vamp our closets and start adding some summer pieces to our collection. Now out of all my summer shopping, I dread the most is going swimwear shopping but after discovering this site, I have for sure found a new love for it! The site is called Monif C and they are an online fashion plus-size store with an boutique located in Manhattan, New York. In the site they are describe as "an unapologetic stand for high fashion style for plus size women" and that they are. They offer beautiful dresses and what inspired me to make this post: swimwear. I am 100% in love with these pieces and can not wait to make a stop in their store in the city. I won't continue to write anymore because the gorgeous swimsuit's speak for themselves =]

Hey Ladies! So by now we all know that Forever 21 carries their plus size line called Faith 21. Forever 21 is known to have affordable, trendy and at times high-end designer like items. They have been around for years now and before they came out with their plus size line, I would still shop there for accessories and handbags. Faith 21 carries everything from tank tops, maxi dresses, blazers, and different types of bottoms. They carry tops in sizes 1x to 3x and their jeans in 12 to 18. [Personally, I love their tops more than their bottoms.] Either way ladies next time your at the mall or see a Forever 21, just make a stop and see what's new!

Hey ladies!! So I wanted to start a weekly post of both fabulous and inspiring fashionista's out there. It will consist of both celebrities and regular fashion diva's. This week's will be the gorgeous Queen Latifah who has really stepped up her fashion game in the past recent years. I remember growing up and seeing her in the baggy jeans with over sized tee's but she always had that beautiful smile. She is truly an eye opener to Hollywood and shows that beauty and glamorous comes in all sizes. [She is also from my hometown; yipeee ; hehe]

Top 10 Make-up Mistakes

It's OK ladies, we all did them at one point and time before we learned the correct way of applying make-up. It's all good now! [hehe]

Here in the following are the mistakes we do not want to repeat:

ONE - Wearing dark lip liner with light lipstick is way out of date. Wearing matching liner and lipstick is the rule of the day for the new millennium. Make-up that is understated is more in line with today's more natural look.

TWO - Using your lip liner to draw a line that extends beyond your natural lip line is passé. Keep your lip line natural. There are newer products out now that can help plump up your lips. Hot lips types of lip glosses or enhancers are now available that can increase your lip's volume.

THREE - Drawn in eyebrows are also a thing of the past. There is now eyebrow powder that you can use to enhance your eyebrow's natural line. These powders are a more subtle look.

FOUR - Eyeliner is a tricky thing. Keeping it in control can create a sexy look, while extending eyeliner too far past the corner of the eye can be over done. The Cleopatra look is great for Halloween, but for everyday it just appears overdone.

FIVE - Clumpy mascara just simply looks very bad. This is where purchasing better cosmetics is worth it. Some of the cheaper brands clump up terribly or use a brush that isn't adequate. There are some low cost mascaras that really are good.

SIX - Glaring blush is a definite 80's look. Use a large blush brush to apply blush so you get a nice blended look that is more natural. You want people to see your whole face when they look at you, for an overall appearance. You don't want them to be seeing just your cheeks.

SEVEN - There are different colors of mascara available today, teal being one of them. Teenagers can get away with the more exotic colors, but for a sophisticated look go for dark blue. This is for the woman who wants to be taken seriously.

EIGHT - I've seen many women make this mistake…they cake on foundation over problem skin. I need to first say that there is much that can be done today for women with problem skin. There are many products that can clear up skin issues, such as rosacea, acne or brown spots. For the women who have more serious issues, there are laser treatments, peels, microdermabrasion, and facials. Be sure to use mineral makeup if you have acne prone skin. If you have fine lines you can mix a quality moisturizer with your foundation to help fill in the fine lines.

NINE - Foundation should be blended at the jaw line. Many women just don't seem to catch this mistake even though they are looking in the mirror when applying their makeup! Most importantly, you need to pick a foundation color that closely matches your skin color. Use a sponge to apply makeup, which will go a long way in helping to blend your foundation line.

TEN - It used to be the thing a few years ago to line the eyelid half way with eyeliner. Today the advice is to open the eyes with a softer look by applying a powder liner and outlining the whole eye area above and below the eye.

Today's beautiful woman is one who appears confident and well maintained, and by all means, in control of her looks. She knows that she is a whole package and not just individual features. The first thing that makes an impression is your face when meeting new people. Dress your face with makeup as well as you would dress your body with clothes.

It is prom and formal season now so here I'll be posting some beautiful fashionable dresses. All the pics came from Davids Bridal so make sure to check them out girlies. They are a great source of beautiful dresses not only for bridal event's but many formal nights out. Don't be afraid to go out your comfort zone whether by the color or the style of the dress. You can let the dress itself be the center of attention and use minimal accessories OR let the shoes or jewelry be the focal point. In whatever choice you make, don't forget to have fun and enjoy your special night out!
